About Stace

I work 8-9 hours a day in an office full of men, teach a few dance classes a week to the kiddies, lead fitness classes for the lady folk, and on Sundays... I sleep.  Amongst all the madness, I somehow manage to keep fitness, nutrition, and taking care of myself priority numero uno.

I'm an avid blog reader, as I like to get my daily fix of health tips, nutrition advice, recipes, and well... look at all the colorful pictures :)  Reading other people's accounts has helped me tremendously in my own fitness and nutrition endeavors. I decided I was finally ready to take that liberating, yet vulnerable step and create my own little blog (along with Kate, my partner in crime).

I have deep rooted passions for dancing, fitness, nutrition, and helping others. So, as I sat here in my jammies, reading through my favorite blogs, I thought it was only natural that I contribute to the blogsphere in my own way.

A little about me:

The name is Stacy. I danced for the majority of my life (from age 4 until now, 22), and trained in every style I could including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, belly dancing, break-dancing, you name it. I found myself in awe of different styles, and fell in love with the art of moving. I dedicated my life, up until now, to dancing. Since I had my mind set on that career path, I didn't allow myself to be open to other opportunities.

At 19, to supplement my income, I decided I wanted to become a personal trainer. At first, the career interested me because I found it to be a lot more flexible than any other job. I wouldn't have to miss any dance auditions, which was my top priority at the time. I was already a frequent at the gym, since the industry I was involved in is heavily based on physical appearance. Training seemed like a natural progression for me. Little did I know, becoming a trainer would change me completely.

I went to school at The American Academy of Personal Training in New York City. You could very well get certified through many reputable organizations such as AFAA (which I have and highly recommend), NASM, ACE (also have an recommend), etc. I chose AAPT because I liked the idea of learning in a classroom environment, and to this day, I'm am so happy I chose to go there! My schooling involved 130 lecture hours in everything from Nutrition, and Program Design, to Kinesiology, Bio-mechanics, and Anatomy. In addition, I spent 130 hours getting practical, on the floor training. Needless to say, I graduated equipped with tons of knowledge and practical training. At the time I didn't realize that I also graduated with a fire inside, that burned brighter the more I trained clients, the more I researched, the more certifications I obtained, etc.

Now, I am a dance instructor, personal trainer, zumba and fitness instructor, full-time student, business admin major, animal lover, shopaholic, writer, and lover of all things chocolate. I'll eat anything with spinach in it, because that's how I roll. I'm learning how to cook (other than buttering toast, and making cereal, of course). My family is amazing. My boyfriend, Kevin, is the love of my life. I have a deep appreciation for all things Coach..... and big sunglasses (don't judge me). And no, the frequent and random pictures of a little boy are not son- it's my nephew Mikey (also referred to as MJ, M-Jeezy, Little B Man, Monkey, Munchkin head, whatevers clever). That baby owns my heart <3
